ABOUT THE PASTOR
Pastor Charles Langley is a Servant-leader, Preacher, Counselor, Mentor, and Visionary dedicated to reaching lost souls. A gifted teacher whose unwavering commitment to enhancing the kingdom of God on Earth is evidenced by the attention he gives to the needs of his congregation and the community in which he serves. He is the founder and Lead Visionary of Refuge Church located in the North Philadelphia section of the city.
Pastor Langley knew at a very young age there was a calling on his life and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of fifteen in a revival conducted by Evangelist Isaac Patrick at the Rehoboth Temple C.O.G.I.C. He submitted himself to the leadership influence of the Late Elder Aaron Williams of the Emanuel Full Gospel Church of God in Christ and Bishop (then Pastor) George A. Williams to receive clarity on his call to service.
Nurturing the anointing and calling upon his life, he was ordained by Bishop O.T. Jones Jr. of the Commonwealth Jurisdiction of PA in 1978. And would go on to start his ministry in 1984 in the living room of his mother, the late Mother Catherine Langley and Deacon Langley with a few members comprised of his family.
Educationally, Pastor Langley is a product of the Philadelphia public education system. He was one of the first men to graduate from William Penn High, which at that time was an all-girls school. He then attended LaSalle University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Seeking to widen his horizon of ministerial learnings, he completed the Christian Stronghold “Pastoring with a Purpose” program.
Pastor Langley devotes his time, energy, and compassion to providing educational, behavioral and marital counseling services to churches, educators, married couples, engaged couples, and community initiatives.
Pastor Langley has been happily married for forty-four years to his wife Carla Langley whom he affectionately calls “Sweetness.” They are blessed with six grown children (Melanie, Candice, Tiffany, Stephanie, Charles Jr., and Ashia) and six grandchildren. A literary scholar who reads four or five books a week uses this knowledge to bring the word of God to life. He uses this gifting under the leading and direction of the Holy Spirit to deliver with clarity and succinctness a Christ-centered, bible-based message that is relatable and whose principles are applicable to successful Christian living in the world today.
